Academic Specializations at the University of Maryland School of Social Work Students are required to select a specialization in the Advanced Curriculum. All students specialize in one of the following fields of practice. Each specialization is guided by a committee that ensures the curriculum and field experiences are current and appropriate. Of the eight courses taken in the advanced year, six to seven are needed to fulfill all concentration and specialization requirements. In addition to the specializations listed below, the option of developing an individualized specialization within a primary concentration exists. A plan of study is developed by the student with the chair of this specialization, Associate Dean Deborah Rejent. top | | | | |
