Professor Emeritus Stan Wenocur's Art on Display in Delaware Museum
When walking the halls of the School of Social Work one will find several works of art by retired Professor Emeritus Stan Wenocur. Today, one of his pieces now hangs in the permanent collection of the Delaware Art Museum.
The piece is called David's Transformation 4 and according to Wenocur, "It was part of a series I did on the Biblical David set against the backdrop of the Iraq war. The title refers to the transformation that David underwent when he was called to fight Goliath, from an innocent young man who was a shepherd to an adult warrior." Wenocur adds, "All wars to date seem to call innocent young men to battle and transform them in the same way. David was affected by that transformation, one might say traumatized. Today we talk about PTSD, post traumatic stress disorder. Although David had many strengths as a king, he was also flawed."
The Delaware Art Museum is located in Wilmington, Delaware.
