University of Maryland School of Social Work Alumni Association Awards Nomination Form The University of Maryland School of Social Work (UMSSW) has a rich history of graduating social workers and professionals in the field who embody the ethics and character that the National Association of Social Work requires. The UMSSW Alumni Association, together with Dean Richard Barth, are proud to announce the School is returning to its previous practice of acknowledging its graduates who have demonstrated exemplary service to the field of social work. Please see the criteria below for these awards: 2009 Alumni of the Year Award – This award acknowledges and honors a UMSSW graduate who is making an outstanding contribution in the present and is well-known for her/his contributions in the larger community.
2009 Emeritus Award – This award acknowledges and honors a UMSSW graduate who has devoted her/his entire life to the social work profession and is perhaps retired or nearing retirement. 2009 Outstanding Contribution to Social Work Award – This award acknowledges and honors a UMSSW graduate who throughout her/his career has consistently demonstrated exceptional contributions to the field of social work and the community at large. 2009 Outstanding Recent Graduate Award – This award acknowledges and honors a UMSSW graduate who has demonstrated unusual accomplishments in her/his first five years of post-MSW practice.
