Announcement: Maryland received a federal Systems of Care grant award from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) totaling $8.5 million over 6 years. This collaborative project known as Maryland Crisis and At Risk for Escalation Diversion Services for children (MD CARES), will cement a cross-agency partnership, blending family-driven, evidence-based practices within mental health and child welfare.
This practice will better serve children, youth, and families served by, or who are at risk of entering the State's foster care system. The award is the result of the continued partnership between the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the Department of Human Resources to address the mental health needs of Maryland's youth in foster care and the collaborative efforts of the University, the State, Local offices, advocates, families and youth.
Dr. Diane DePanfilis and Dr. Terry V. Shaw from the School of Social Work will be leading the evaluation. |
