In the United States, rates of opioid dependence have increased in recent years. The pharmacological approach to the treatment of persons with opioid dependence has evolved in the last 10-15 years, with expansion of capacity for an older treatment (methadone) as well as FDA approval of a newer treatment (buprenorphine). In addition, non-pharmacological approaches have continued to be refined. Despite these efforts, there continues to be a need for both better application of existing treatments, and the development of new approaches to help patients who suffer from this disorder. This lecture will discuss new approaches.
Event is FREE. 1.5 CEUs available for $20.
