Candidates should have an earned doctorate in social work or an appropriate social science discipline, experience in research management or coordination, and understanding of child maltreatment, child welfare, and child and family services related policies and programs. These positions are grant funded for research projects in the Ruth H. Young Center for Families and Children (RYC) (http://www.family.umaryland.edu). The mission of the RYC is to promote the safety, permanence and stability, and well-being of children, youth, and families in their communities through education and training; research and evaluation; and best practice community service programs. Research faculty will be expected to conduct research in one or more areas, including: child welfare efficiency and effectiveness, evaluation of child welfare reforms (e.g., alternative response, implementation of comprehensive family assessment protocols, testing of procedures for screening adoptive families); evaluation of court reforms; evaluation of systems of care initiatives across child welfare, education, mental health, and juvenile justice programs; and process and outcome evaluations of evidenced based interventions. In addition to participating in new and ongoing research projects, research-track faculty will receive mentoring and career development support to develop skills for advancing research in their own areas of interest. The UM-SSW is located in downtown Baltimore on a Health and Human Services Professions campus.
