One $2,000 scholarship will be awarded in the Spring of 2014 to a current MSW student who is about to enter his or her advanced year in the Fall of 2014. The purpose of this award is to support students with a commitment to furthering their career in addiction studies.
In order to be considered for the award, an applicant must submit a 250-500 word essay describing his or her experiences in and future commitment to social work practice in the field of addictions. We are looking for essays that describe what the meaning of the practice experience has been to the student applicant, as well as how that experience has shaped what the student plans to do in the field of addiction upon graduation. When the essay is evaluated, the committee reviewing the application will also consider the applicant's grade point average and the first year field instructor's final evaluation.
Please use a cover page that includes your name, student ID number, and contact information. The essay itself should contain only your student ID number as identification so the essay can be reviewed anonymously. The winner will be informed in early June.
