The Baltimore Babies Project (BBP) is a collaboration between the University of Maryland and Sinai Hospital. The goal of the study is to learn what it is like to raise a baby in Baltimore City. We would like to know what services and supports are available and potentially helpful to Baltimore City families with babies.

The Baltimore Babies Project study is now closed. Findings will be shared once the data analysis is complete.

COVID-19 UPDATE

Due to state and university guidelines, we have suspended recruitment of new mothers at Sinai Hospital. Our 6-month interviews were conducted via phone, FaceTIme, and Zoom.

Who can participate?

Mothers who:
1. gave birth at Sinai Hospital
2. live in Baltimore City
3. speak English fluently
4. would like to participate in a research study

What does participation include?

You will receive a postcard with “fun facts” about infant development once a month for the first five months of your child’s life.

When your child is 6 months old, research team members will reach out to schedule a virtual 90-minute interview.

We will also ask your permission to look at some of your child’s health records, and some records about services you and your child may have received.

All information will be kept confidential and secure.

Participants will receive a $50 e-gift card for their time and participation after completing the 6-month interview.

When does the interview take place?

We are flexible! We will work with you to find the best time for you and your family.

Where does the interview take place?

At this time, interviews are taking place virtually (by video or phone).
