These students, both MCH graduates and public health graduates, have continued in the field to become outstanding leaders in public health social work. They have graduated and continued in the profession to attain heights as high as dean in programs across the country.
"The program provided a fantastic experience in group project work in particular. It provided a good simulation of future job situations in which I will surely have to work with people I've just met to work towards a common goal under a tight timeline - so in that sense, it was a great 'practice run' for working on communication skills, goal setting, teamwork, and working under pressure. The program also provided a welcome link to the Baltimore community - an opportunity to engage with a community based organization on the ground rather than just in the halls of academia. It also provided a great intro to the important intersection of public health and social work, both in terms of methodologies and best practices for intervention research and program planning." --Public Health Social Work Scholar 2014-2015
“The PHSW leadership program was an excellent addition to my Master of Social Work experience at UMB. Although my version of the program was short lived, I gained so much knowledge for the profession as well as leadership skills that I did not know I possessed. The skills and experience I gained will surely stay with me throughout my career." --Public Health Social Work Scholar 2014-2015
