Lisa Lewenz is Promise Heights’ Communications Specialist in the UMB School of Social Work. She holds her Master’s Degree of Fine Arts from CalArts, with an emphasis on Media Studies, and her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, with additional studies at the Kansas City Art Institute, the Philadelphia College of Art, and the Maryland Institute College of Art. Lewenz brings significant experience in non-profit and higher education sectors, advancing both institutional goals and outreach. She served as the first non-profit director of the Edgar Allan Poe House & Museum in Baltimore, the Public Programs Manager at the Walters Art Museum, and also taught as an assistant professor at New York University, the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana, and the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. As well, Lewenz is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and photographer, a former Fulbright Senior Research Scholar. Throughout her career, she has received numerous individual awards for her work in film, photography, and writing, and was awarded three artists fellowships from the National for the Endowment of the Arts.
