Student Field Orientation

Field Orientation is mandatory for Advanced Standing students and Foundation students entering field for the first time.  Advanced Standing students are those students admitted with a BSW who will complete the program in one year, while Advanced students attended oriention during their Foundation year and do not need to attend this year.  

The Student Field Orientation is comprised of two parts. Part 1 is a series of short videos, and Part 2 is a live Student Field Orientation, which you are required to attend on one of the dates provided below. Students must watch the pre-orientation videos prior to attending the orientation.

Certificate of Completion

Note:  Please wait until AFTER the Live Zoom Field Orientation to upload the Certificate of Completion in the electronic field notebook.

Part 2:  Attend LIVE ZOOM Student Field Orientation.

New students are expected to attend Orientation on one of the dates below.  Please click on a date to register & receive the Zoom link.

Field Instructor Orientation

Welcome to Field Education at the University of Maryland School of Social Work!  
 
The Field Instructor Orientation is in two parts
 
Part 1. (REQUIRED): Watch the list of short videos at your own pace prior to the start of field. To view the videos click on the link below:   
 
 
Part 2.  After you have reviewed the videos, you are invited to attend a virtual New Field Instructor Orientation with other new field instructors and SSW Field Education team. During the webinar we will review the field instructor video material, the field instructor role and expectations, and answer questions. (The New Field Instructor Orientation Live-Webinar is not eligible for CEUs.)
