Student Field Education Orientation

Field Education Orientation is mandatory for Advanced Standing students and Foundation students entering field for the first time.  Advanced Standing students are those students admitted with a BSW who will complete the program in one year, while Advanced students attended orientation during their Foundation year and do not need to attend this year.  

The Student Field Education Orientation is held virtually in August, prior to the start of practicum.  Please register for one of the dates below. 

Part 1:  Attend a Virtual (Zoom) Student Field Orientation.

New students are expected to attend an Orientation on one of the dates below.  Please click on a date to register & receive the Zoom link.  

  • August 20, 2024, from 6 PM to 9 PM - FILLED 
  • August 22, 2024, from 1 PM to 4 PM - Click HERE to Register 
  • August 23, 2024, from 9 AM to 12 PM - Click HERE to Register

Field Instructor Orientation
Welcome to Field Education at the University of Maryland School of Social Work!  
 
The Field Instructor Orientation is in two parts: 
 
Part 1.  Watch the five short videos at your own pace prior to the start of Field. To view the videos click on the link below:   
 
Part 2.  After you have reviewed the videos, you are invited to attend a virtual New Field Instructor Orientation.  During the webinar we will review the field instructor video material, the field instructor role and expectations, and answer questions. (The New Field Instructor Orientation Live-Webinar is not eligible for CEUs.)
