2nd Annual Summit for Homeless Providers

One of the Grand Challenges for Social Work identified by the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare is Ending Homelessness. The SSW Office of Field Education serves as the lead for this grand challenge and has convened and led a statewide Homelessness Social Work Council of leaders, service providers, researchers, and educators who have expertise addressing homelessness. A core goal of this initiative is also to prepare students to serve this population by supporting and identifying field placement opportunities for master’s level students. Please join us on March 20, 2020 for the second gathering of the council members and service providers for this event. The format for this summit will be built around the nationally recognized expert and author, Deborah Padgett and the expertise from the panelists who serve the homeless population.

By participating in this summit service providers and field instructors will be able to:

  1. Examine the individual and systemic issues related to homelessness.
  2. Identify various service delivery models for the diverse face of homelessness.
  3. Dispel the myths associated with the homeless population through the lens of research.
  4. Identify strategies and next steps to address homelessness in urban and rural settings and increase field opportunities for students.
