Campus Educational Institute ▾
The University of Maryland School of Nursing’s Institute for Educators in Nursing and Health Professions is focused on strategies for addressing the continuing nurse faculty shortage. Since the institute’s inception in 2004, its emphasis has been educating, developing, and supporting current and future nurse educators.
A 12-credit post-graduate Teaching in Nursing and Health Professions Certificate—supported in part by a Nurse Support II Grant under the auspices of the Maryland Higher Education Commission—provides learning and practical experience. The certificate prepares nurses and other health professionals with graduate degrees for teaching roles.
In developing, preparing, and supporting nurse educators, the institute offers professional development initiatives, which include an annual conference, Teaching Grand Rounds, workshops, and a faculty resource center.
