Online MSW Readiness Checklist
Use this checklist to reflect on whether the Online MSW Program is a good fit for your current life circumstances and learning style.
Academic Readiness
- I am prepared to engage with graduate-level coursework, including reading academic texts, writing papers, and participating in discussions.
- I can commit to a structured 3-year plan of study with required courses each semester.
- I understand that most courses are synchronous and require live attendance on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (6–9 PM).
Time Commitment
- I can dedicate 15–20 hours per week to coursework, including class time, readings, assignments, and practicum.
- I am able to complete an in-person practicum during weekday business hours (typically two days per week).
- I have flexibility in my work or personal schedule to accommodate practicum requirements.
Technology Readiness
- I have a reliable desktop or laptop computer (not a tablet or Chromebook).
- I have a stable high-speed internet connection.
- I have a webcam and microphone for participating in live classes.
- I am comfortable using platforms like Zoom and Microsoft Office.
- I have access to a quiet, private space for attending synchronous classes.
Learning Preferences
- I enjoy learning through live discussions and real-time interaction with faculty and peers.
- I am self-motivated and able to manage weekly assignments and deadlines independently.
- I am comfortable asking for help and using support services when needed.
