Lee Lovett III

Lee Lovett IIIHi I look forward to getting to know everyone! My name is Lee Lovett -- I attained my MSW from the University of Maryland, Baltimore in May 2020 (interesting time to be starting my career) but since I do some virtual therapy sessions in my current private practice, which I opened two years ago, I am grateful that I had the opportunity to get familiarized with the virtual platform earlier in my career, as it taught me a lot about its pros and cons vs. in-person clinical work. I thrive through in-person connections, collaborative and thought-provoking discussions with common aims to improve people's lives. Over the last stretch of years, I have contracted with a couple of group therapy practices and worked in two positions (a program therapist followed by "Assistant Clinic Director") at a behavioral health clinic (Intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization programs). I am grateful for gaining valuable experience overseeing and supervising interns, support staff and graduate level clinicians, building crisis intervention and de-escalation skills, as well as the experience treating families (a requirement at that company) and am continuing to build my systems lens, combined with various other techniques, so that I can most effectively assist families in need. I am passionate about helping families though I also see individuals in my practice, see couples, and run groups. My private practice is located walking distance from the C&O Canal and I love getting outdoors with my clients for individual walk&talk sessions, as well as holding groups in nature, which I've very much enjoyed and witnessed many profound moments over the years involving repair, growth and new insights. Those types of moments inspire me to deepen my clinical knowledge so that I can continue building competency in my techniques with my current and future clients. I am also looking to build skills pertaining to leadership: communication and collaboration. A book that I recently read, entitled: The Expectation Effect: How Your Mindset Can Change Your World, by David Robson, John Sackville, et al., particularly resonated with me, since I have a background in clinical hypnosis and am always looking to strengthen those tools, as well. I believe that a lot of core tenets from "The Expectation Effect" apply to effective supervision and leadership, and I am looking forward to collaborating with other eager, passionate colleagues, to work with and learn from their diverse set of perspectives, accompanied by an array of valuable, professional experiences that I look forward to hearing.
