Samantha Roth

Samantha RothSam (she/her) received her masters in clinical social work from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2017, and specializes in working with survivors of trauma and clients living non-traditional lifestyles such as consensual non-monogamy and participating in BDSM/kink. She has over thirteen years of working within systems such as the education, legal, and medical systems, and currently is the Associate Director of the Student Counseling Center at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). At MICA, Sam is responsible for the development of the clinical internship program and most of the SCC's on campus programming, as well as providing therapy to students. As a Certified Therapeutic Game Master and bona fide geek, Samantha has brought therapeutic Dungeons and Dragons to MICA, where it is very much alive and kicking. She is a field instructor for social work students, a board approved supervisor for both masters-level counselors and social workers, and is dedicated to supporting the growth of newer clinicians. She teaches Clinical Trauma and Adult Social Work, and Intimate Relationship Therapy at the University of Maryland School of Social Work. While a Virginia native, Sam has lived in Baltimore since 2017 with her partner, two (not at all) attention-starved cats, and a bookshelf full of fantasy novels.
