Dr. Robert Mays, LICSW, LCSW-C, LCSW, is an adjunct professor for the DSW program, teaching the Neurobiological Basis of Human Behavior.
Dr. Mays earned his Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from Temple University, a Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland at Baltimore with a concentration in Clinical Health and Trauma, and a Doctor of Philosophy from Morgan State University School of Social Work focusing on health equity and utilization trends within populations.
He is a licensed clinical social worker, with over 13 years of experience, whose practice has centered on children and their recovery from trauma. Dr. Mays draws on anti-oppressive and African-centered philosophy as the foundation for both his teaching and his practice.
His research interests include youth mental health, trauma recovery, critical media pedagogy, power and oppression dynamics, wellbeing and communal support, and mind-body practice.
