Dr. Sapphire Boone, LCSW is a dedicated social work educator, child welfare leader, and workforce development professional with more than 15 years of experience in social work specializing in public child welfare. She earned her BSW, MSW, and PhD in Social Work from Morgan State University, receiving her PhD in 2019. Her dissertation examined the factors associated with reunification for mothers with substance use disorders, reflecting her commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable children and families.
Throughout her career, Dr. Boone has served in a variety of child welfare roles, beginning as a family preservation case manager and advancing into leadership positions focused on workforce development and education. Her experience includes serving as Director of the Title IV-E Education for Public Child Welfare Program at Morgan State University and Assistant Chief Learning Officer at the Department of Human Services. She currently serves as the Assistant Director of the Child Welfare Fellowship at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, where she supports the preparation and development of the next generation of child welfare professionals.
In addition to her leadership role, Dr. Boone teaches in the MSW programs at Morgan State University, Walden University, and the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Her teaching focuses primarily on child welfare practice, preparing graduate social work students with the knowledge, skills, and ethical foundation necessary to serve children, families, and communities effectively.
Dr. Boone is passionate about empowering current and future social workers through mentorship, teaching, and professional development. She is also the owner of Advance Social Work Solutions, an organization dedicated to providing high-quality licensure preparation, continuing education, and professional development opportunities for social workers across the profession.
