Research Interests
Yoonzie’s research interests focus on how structural and economic factors, including poverty, inequality, and neighborhood contexts, are associated with child and family wellbeing, with an emphasis on child maltreatment. During her doctoral training, she has authored or co-authored 15 peer-reviewed publications, with four additional manuscripts under review and a book chapter in preprint. Her scholarship has developed along three interconnected lines: economic hardship and child and family wellbeing, neighborhood and structural determinants of child maltreatment, and child welfare system outcomes. Her dissertation, Poverty, Economic Mobility, and Child Maltreatment, integrates these research interests by examining how family and neighborhood economic mobility across early childhood is associated with child maltreatment and later economic wellbeing using the Future of Families and Child Wellbeing Study (FFCWS).
