The Spring 2021 Daniel Thursz Social Justice Lecture featured an interactive panel discussion about how young leaders are working to address youth homelessness in Maryland. The expertise and leadership of youth with lived experience of homelessness is necessary to address root causes of the problem and develop effective interventions, yet youth leaders too often are not involved in decision-making in a meaningful way. The discussion explored strategies for equitable collaboration between youth and systems leaders, services providers, and advocates in these efforts. Panelists included several young leaders who have experienced housing instability as well as an older adult advocate for solutions to homelessness.

Nicholas Kristoff Interview April 2013

Nicholas Kristoff was the featured speaker at the University of Maryland School of Social Work's Spring 2013 Thursz Lecture on Social Justice. Daniel Thursz Distinguished Professor of Social Justice Michael Reisch got to spend a few minutes before the event with Kristoff discussing social justice issues related to women and children around the world. The interview took place at the Baltimore Museum of Industry's Communications Exhibit Hall and Kristoff was the featured speaker that evening at the School's Social Work Community Outreach Service's 20th Anniversary Celebration held at the Baltimore landmark.
