Application Process and Due Dates
Application Period Opens 11/1/2025 - 3/31/2026
Applications Due:
- March 1, 2025, for Current UMSSW Foundation students, starting advanced practicum in Fall 2026.
- May 1, 2026, for Advanced Standing students.
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS: Download the files to your computer first; complete the forms, then attach your saved files to an email. **MAC users should not use Preview to complete their application as it results in us getting a blank document.**
To be eligible to apply, students must meet the following criteria:
1. Students are accepted as Advanced Standing, entering the MSW program in Fall 2026, or are current UMSSW graduate students starting the Advanced Year in the Fall of 2026.
2. Concentration Clinical OR Clinical/Leadership, Policy, and Social Change
3. The fellowship coincides with the advanced year practicum placement at SUDWE-approved site.
4. Has an identified interest in working with the SUD population, including post-graduation.
5. Submit your Advanced Practicum Application by the appropriate deadline.
To complete your fellowship application, the following documents are required (see attachments below):
- SUDWE Student Application
- SUDWE Student Essay
- Resume (SUD experience is not required to apply)
- End of Semester field evaluation or BSW practicum evaluation
- *One Academic Reference (from BSW program for Advanced Standing applicants) Due May 1, 2026.
SUDWE Reference Letter Applicants SHOULD NOT submit their own reference with their application materials.
