Program Structure & Planning Information
The Online Advanced Standing MSW Program is a 16-month, structured, cohort‑based program for students based in Maryland or the surrounding areas. The program includes required synchronous evening coursework and in‑person practicum education.Time Commitment & Course Schedule
Students take two courses per semester over four semesters (including the 8-week Summer semester). Synchronous courses meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6–9PM.- SWCL 700 – Advanced Clinical Interventions (3) Sync (Thurs 6–9pm)
- SWCL 744 – Assessment, Diagnosis, and Intervention Planning (3) Async
- SWCL 794 – Advanced Practicum I* (6) On-site (16–24 hrs/week)
- SWCL 722 – Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (3) Sync
- SWCL 773 – Adult Trauma & Clinical Social Work Practice (3) Sync
- SWCL 795 – Advanced Practicum II* (6)

Practicum (In‑Person, Daytime)
Students complete an in‑person advanced clinical practicum either
- three weekdays per week from September–April, or
- two weekdays per week with the practicum extending through July
Students must be able to balance evening coursework with daytime practicum hours. Some students work while enrolled; however, weekday availability is essential during practicum.
Employment‑based placements may be possible for students already working in social work settings, pending approval.
