Yeung CV

Cheuk Yui (Anthony) Yeung’s research is centered around population health and suicide prevention. He is particularly interested in understanding the impact of socio-environmental factors on the disparities of suicide risk. His doctoral dissertation delved into the phenomenon of suicide by charcoal burning in Hong Kong. He explored the individual- and community-level risk factors of suicide by charcoal burning and evaluated the long-term effectiveness of an intervention program at a charcoal burning suicide “hotspot” in Hong Kong.

Anthony earned his PhD in Social Work and Social Administration from the University of Hong Kong. He holds a Master of Public Health with a specialization in epidemiology and biostatistics from the Washington University in St. Louis as well as a Bachelor of Science in public health from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

In his current role as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Maryland School of Social Work, Anthony is working with Dr. Jay Unick on a study aiming at assessing the effectiveness of the Medherent Medication Device, a residential-based telehealth care-coordination service, on improving clinical outcomes and medication adherence among individuals suffering from serious mental illnesses.
